Incorporation

Path of Life Church , commonly known as POLC,  was incorporated by the State of Illinois on October 7, 2009 in the year of our Lord and held its First, Board of Directors (Organizational) Meeting on October 15th to organize the affairs of the Corporation.

ABOUT THE BOARD

Pastor Michael O. Afolayan

TREASURER

Michael O. Afoláyan, together with his wife, Dr. Precious Olufunke Afolayan, founded Maranatha Evangelical Resurrection Church International (MERCI) Ministries.  Michael’s Christian principle has always been to operate purely on Spirit-led missions. In the last few years, for instance, he has answered the Spirit’s call to a door-to-door evangelism outreach during the Cahokia Mission. This would be followed by a Radio Ministry, called “The Voice of MERCI,” and then a Yoruba Bible on Tape project, which is still an on-going project. Michael and his wife are just embarking on their current mission, which is to start an orphanage and adoption agency, Home of Mercy (HOMER), in their homeland of Nigeria. Michael is the current Assistant Director of Academic Affairs for the State of Illinois’ Board of Higher Education in Springfield, Illinois. Prior to this appointment, Michael was a Professor of Education at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He is a graduate of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in Nigeria, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Yale University, New Haven Connecticut.

I have been a disciple of Christ since the late 1970s when I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into my life.

I got married to Michael O. Afolayan on August 17, 1982. The Lord has faithfully blessed us with four wonderful children – Olaoluwa (in Missouri), Ifeoluwa (in South Korea), Adeoluwa (in Wisconsin), and Ayooluwa (with dad and mom in Springfield, Illinois).

We have both surrendered our lives and home to the wholesale leadership of Him who has called us.

As a couple, we let the Lord be the Captain of our ship, while we are obedient service crewmembers in the cabin of our home and in the vineyard of His mission.  Michael and I operate purely according to the mission for which the Holy Spirit has called us at any time in our spiritual journey.

Our professional lives are secondary to our spiritual calling but the latter is not less important either.  Professionally, I am currently a school administrator with Springfield School District 186, in Springfield, Illinois. Prior to this time, I have been an adjunct professor of educational leadership at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I have also served as a school administrator with various school districts. For example, I was the dean of students and later the principal at Lincoln Charter School, Venice, Illinois; and an assistant principal at Milwaukee Spectrum, a girls’ school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am a graduate of United Missionary Teachers College in Ibadan, Nigeria; Concordia University, Mequon, Wisconsin, where I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Management and Communication with honors; and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I obtained both a Master of Science degree and a Ph. D degree in the field of Educational Administration in 1995. Our new assignment is to start an orphanage in Nigeria, and we are watching the Captain navigate us through that sacred water of the new mission.
