By Bishop James L. Dargan

 OUTLINE:

I.    SELF EXAMINATION
II.   STARTING AND STOPPING
III.  THE END RESULTS OF STARTING AND STOPPING
IV.  THINGS THAT HINDER A PERSON FROM COMING
      FROM COMING FULL CIRCLE
V.   CONCLUSION

       1.  How to come full circle with God according to Luke 15:11-32
            (the prodigal son illustration)
            a. Come to your self - vs. 17
            b. Must realize the condition you're in - vs. 17
            c. Must recognize that you are being destroyed - vs 17
            d. You mut make a commitment - vs. 18
            e. You must take action - vs. 20
            f.  You must come Full Circle vs. 24

Full Circle means that you have come to the decision to turn away from that which is wrong and never repeat the wrong again, to learn about the Lord and to apply His Word.

How much do you think you've grown in your commiment to God? Or, maybe you haven't started to come Full Circle with God?

I.  SELF EXAMINATION

1.  Do you feel that you have not grown or that you haven't started to walk with God?

2.  Do you believe that God desires that you come Full Circle with Him?

3.  Do you want to come full circle with God?  If not, why?

Matthew 11:28-30  28 Come unto me , all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowely in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

II.  STARTING AND STOPPING

Galatians 5:7  Ye did run well, but who did hinder you, that ye should not obey the truth?

Are you always starting and stopping?  Saying, "just in case" always reserving a spot to do wrong.

Never coming Full Circle by not making a commitment.

Is This You?

1.  Do you constantly start and stop?  Galatians 5:7

2.  Very good at "talking a good talk," Matthew 15:7-9, Mark 7:6-7

3.  Not living what you talk?  Can quote many scriptures, but never apply them

III.  THE END RESULTS OF STARTING AND STOPPING

Self Deception - James 1:22  But be ye doers of the word, and not hears only, deceiving your own selves.

Deceive means fail to fulfill.

IV.  THINGS THAT HINDER A PERSON FROM COMING FULL CIRCLE

Excuses and Procrastinations

1. Excuse(s): means to make an apology.  Something offered as grounds for being excused.

We make excuses to each other, but, can we make excuses to God?  Are there any excuses we can use, why we cannot serve God?  Luke 14:16-24. (Read and see that there are no excuses that can be used)

2.  Procrastination:  Means to put off doing that which should be done, to delay.  Psalm 95:8; Hebrews 3:7-8

Conclusion

V.  HOW TO COME FULL CIRCLE

In order to come Full Circle with God, one must do as the Pridigal son did according to Luke 15:11-23 (please read)

1.  Come to your self (and when he came to himself) vs. 17
2.  Must Realize the condition you are in (How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare) vs. 17
3.  Must Recognize that you are being destroyed (and I perish with hunger) vs. 17
4.  You must make a Commitment (I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants)   vs. 18
5.  You must Take action (and he arose, and came to his father) vs. 20
6.  You must Come Full Circle.   The Prodigal Son had come Full Circle when his father said, "for this thy brother was dead, and is now alive again, was lost and is now found"

Discovering Our True Identity

  * Do We Allow God To Speak To Us Everyday?

  * How Often Do We Look Into A Mirror?

  * Why Do We Look At Ourselves In A Mirror?

For most of us looking in a mirror is a daily practice; some of us do it several times every day.

Why? Because we are concerned about our appearance.  We want to look our best.  The mirror allows us to make adjustments as needed.  We need to look regularly in the mirror to ensure that our appearance is acceptable.

Studying the Bible can be related to looking into a mirror.  Let us turn in our Bibles to James 1:23-25, and it reads as follows:

23  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24  For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25  But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

What this message in God’s Word is saying is that it has the power to allow us to see ourselves as we really are, our true identity.

The Scripture tells us about the dividing of our soul and spirit. In other words, it divides what we appear to be on the outside from what we really are on the inside.

Let us check out Hebrews 4:12. It reads as follows:

12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Just like the mirror, the Bible shows us where adjustments are needed.  The Bible also helps us to make the necessary adjustments.

All  Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, and for discipline, – such as, adjustments in our attitude and actions; as we can attest to in 2 Timothy 3:16-17:

16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17  That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

In order for us to be successful in perfecting God'’s Word we must read and study it day and night, on a regular basis, because in doing so, our way will be successful and we will act wisely as it is written in Joshua 1:8

8  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Also, in obeying and studying God’s Word , the Lord says that we shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth its fruit in its season.

Let us turn to Psalm 1:1-3; and read what it says:

1  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper

We should never let a day go by without praying to God or reading God’s Word . When you are praying to God, you expect God to hear you.

Reading the Bible is just like listening to God, because we get his view points on matters, i.e. the unanswer questions we have, tough decisions facing us, and choices we have to make….

Each time you read the Bible, you will find new things that apply to your
life.  Why, you may ask?   Because, this world is forever changing and our
lives and circumstances are constantly changing too.

See 1Corinthians 7:31:
31  And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

Therefore you should make it your business to look daily in the mirror of God’s Word, the Bible.  This way, you can be sure that you allow God to speak to you every day.

Now I will leave you with this one last Scripture.  Psalm 16:8, and it reads,

8 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON, HOLY SPIRT, AMEN.
